The Very Hungry Caterpillar Cake

I made this cake for a first birthday party.  The first tier is a vanilla sponge which I drizzled with a vanilla syrup after baking.  It also had a vanilla buttercream and strawberry jam filling.  The second tier is a chocolate fudge cake with white chocolate buttercream.  Yummy!!

The decorations were mostly made with fondant icing.  I had to use flower paste for the wings of the butterfly and let them dry well so that they were rigid.  I also made some vanilla cupcakes and used some hungry caterpillar toppers which I found on amazon.
